Berlin and Hamburg to launch new public transport app
31. Januar 2025

Berlin and Hamburg’s local transport authorities have announced plans for a new public transport app designed to provide passengers with more accurate, real-time information about U-Bahn, tram, and bus delays, diversions, and disruptions. The app, set to launch in spring 2026, aims to improve the commuting experience by offering live tracking features similar to those used in ride-hailing services. “The app will show real-time information for buses, trams, and U-Bahns, which we are familiar with from multiple apps for taxis,” explained Henrik Falk of Berlin’s local transport association, the BVG. “This way, we can see where my bus is and when it should arrive at the stop.”
The BVG is working in collaboration with Hamburg’s transport authority, HHV, to develop the app. In addition to public transport updates, the BVG is planning to integrate e-scooter and car-leasing services into the platform.
