Children constructed ramps from LEGO bricks
7. Januar 2025

In Fürstenwalde (Oder-Spree), children and teenagers have constructed ramps from LEGO bricks to make local shops more accessible for wheelchair users, strollers, and walkers. According to the project’s initiators, the idea originated from a city bet with Mayor Matthias Rudolph (Alliance for a Future in Fürstenwalde). As part of this initiative, residents were initially encouraged to donate colorful bricks. Subsequently, more than 40 children and teenagers participated in a summer camp, building the ramps using over 37,000 bricks, as reported by Mia Zickerow-Grund from the Fürstenwalder Youth Ring. The stylish, colorful and eye-catching ramps are a great initiative to more inclusion and the project has been a success for the entire city, says Mia Zickerow-Grund.
