In November the German government has passed a law allowing new employees to sign work contracts digitally instead of having to provide a handwritten signature. Starting January 1st, 2025, it will be sufficient for employees to sign a work contract digitally. The contracts must still contain basic information such as the names and addresses of both the employee and employer, the employment start date, and agreed working hours, but a handwritten signature is no longer necessary. Furthermore, the new law allows employers to share other important work documents electronically, such as information about work rotas and breaks. This modernization aims to streamline administrative processes and enhance efficiency in the workplace.
