Ever noticed how Germans love their „Stammtisch“ — the regulars’ table at a pub or café? It’s more than just a reserved spot; it’s a cultural institution. Friends, neighbours, or club members meet there (often weekly) to discuss everything from politics to potato salad recipes — always at their table. Some Stammtische even have official signs, membership lists, or their own WhatsApp groups. Try sitting there uninvited, and you might just get a polite but unmistakable „Das ist unser Platz.“
