More Verkaufsoffene Sonntage in Berlin

Ever had to rush into the stores on a Saturday evening to buy groceries because you forgot that shops close on Sunday here in Germany? It might get a little less complicated. Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner has announced plans to expand shop opening hours on Sundays. The goal is to double the number of Sundays when shops in the city can open, known as ‚Verkaufsoffener Sonntag.‘ Currently, supermarkets, clothing, and furniture stores can only open their doors on four Sundays per year, but Wegner aims to increase this number to eight.
