Nationwide Warntag
3. September 2024

On September 12th, Germany will conduct a nationwide test warning, known as Warntag. At 11 a.m., residents across the country will receive a test alert on their mobile phones, radios, or TVs. In certain regions, such as Lower Saxony, Hanover, and Baden-Württemberg, sirens will also sound. A follow-up message confirming the end of the test will be sent out at 11:45 a.m. The trial warning is a response by the authorities to recent events, including the outbreak of war in Europe, summer flooding, and extreme heat. An annual Warntag is now scheduled for the second week in September each year.
