Oktoberfest Conclusion
15. Oktober 2024

On October 6th the Oktoberfest 2024 has come to an end with an impressive turnout. The 6.7 million visitors drank a total of 7 million Maß and consumed 9 percent more traditional food than the previous year. The beloved Hendl, or roast chicken, once again claimed its title as the most popular dish among festival-goers. While the numbers reflect an overall successful event, they didn’t quite break any records this time around. In terms of safety, Munich police reported a remarkable 25 percent drop in criminal offenses compared to the previous year’s festival, despite ninety-eight thousand visitors attempting to take home a Maßkrug with them. Speaking of lost items, the festival’s lost and found department had quite the haul this year. Among the various items were 16 pairs of Lederhosen, several pairs of women’s shoes, one pair of handcuffs, and even a dental retainer! Notably, five wedding rings were also found, three of which have already been reunited with their rightful owners.
