As of Sunday, September 1, air passengers in the European Union, including Germany, are facing the reintroduction of strict liquid restrictions in their hand luggage. The European Commission has announced that passengers will only be allowed to carry liquid containers of 100 milliliters or less in their carry-on bags moving forward. This change is part of temporary measures related to enhanced liquid screening at EU airports, which utilize Explosive Detection Systems for Cabin Baggage or EDSCB. Previously, certain EU airports permitted passengers to bring liquid containers larger than 100 ml. However, due to a „temporary technical issue,“ it has become necessary to revert to the standard regulations.
